A91 St Andrews to Guardbridge Path

We’re campaigning to have the shared use path that runs alongside the A91 between St Andrews and Guardbridge upgraded.

Problems

  • Sections are too narrow
    • Placing cyclists and pedestrians too close to 50mph traffic
    • Placing cyclists and pedestrians into conflict
  • The surface is in poor condition
  • It is often obstructed by foliage, bins, and inconsiderate parking

In 2024 we ran, and then presented a petition to Fife Council who have agreed to undertake feasibility investigation into alternatives and measures to improve this key route to our town.

Fife Council Roads and Transport are due to report back to the area committee their proposals in April 2025, June 2025 unfortunately this has been delayed until August 2025.

We’re aware that re-routing the path will face challenges and take time to deliver. However we’re also pushing for improvements to the existing path. We’re pleased that the worst section has been committed to being resurfaced in January 2025, unfortunately Fife Council have postponed this and we await a new commencement date for works.
